Groundhog day has come and gone and you’d think by the recent weather pattern in central Maine that spring is just around the corner. Wishful thinking I’m afraid!
With the thought of spring comes thoughts of home buying and home improvement projects. I recently sold the first house I bought 30 years ago. Although I hadn’t lived in the house for over 25 years, at the sale I reflected on how the equity I built up in that house allowed me to purchase my current home and make all sorts of other investments. Today is a great time for anyone thinking of buying a home to act. Interest rates are low and there are all sorts of incentives as you can see in Nanook Tuefferd’s article in this month’s Skowhegan Advisor newsletter. Stay tuned for our March newsletter when we will talk about home equity loan specials to help with those spring projects.
With homeownership comes the joys of maintenance and repairs, so free up some time by reviewing Tracy Dean’s newsletter article on our convenient electronic banking services and save a trip to the bank so you can paint that room!

Enjoy the rest of the winter, I’m sure the snow that’s crippled our nation’s capital will find its way up here before long and we’ll be cursing the groundhog once again.
Sincerely,
